What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It is a way to access updated web content without having to visit each website or web page first to check for new material. The newly posted items are listed in a feed that can be sent automatically to a browser or newsreader. Once you are subscribed to this listing of new content, you can select only those pages whose updated content is of interest to you.
How do I use it?
Simply paste the following URL into your favorite newsreader to see which pages on the site have had new content added.
www.nuestromundoinc.org/rssfeed.xml
Some of the newest browers (e.g., Safari, Firefox 3) allow you to view a RSS feed directly in the browser. Click on the RSS icon in the address bar of the browser to see the feed. Then bookmark it to get the updated feed in the future.
RSS uses a web coding standard known as extensible markup language, or XML, but you don’t need to understand XML. If you see a page containing strange webcode when you click on the RSS icon, copy the URL that appears in the address bar of your browser (it should be the same as that listed above) and paste it into the RSS reader of your choice. Some email programs (e.g., Thunderbird) even allow you to read RSS feeds.
